How it works and when to use it
Devine: 50 kg for men and 45.5 kg for women, plus 2.3 kg per inch over 5 feet (152.4 cm), and adjusted body weight = IBW + 0.4 × (actual − IBW).
Ideal or adjusted weight replaces actual weight for some drug doses in obesity and in the Cockcroft-Gault equation, as the drug reference sets.

The ideal weight calculator for everyone shows the healthy range by BMI, Devine gives one number used in drug calculations.
When is adjusted weight used?
Usually when actual weight is more than 20 to 30% above ideal, for drugs such as some antibiotics, as the drug reference says.
