What an eye clinic needs every day

Every number in an eye clinic comes in pairs, uncorrected and best-corrected acuity, sphere, cylinder and axis, intraocular pressure and cup-to-disc ratio, so the template needs a right and a left field for each measurement or readings get mixed between the eyes.

The clinic lives on long follow-up: glaucoma every three to four months, a yearly fundus check for diabetics, children in glasses every six months and amblyopia every few weeks, and a missed appointment here can mean sight that does not come back.

It also sees quick emergencies such as a red eye or a foreign body, and long assessments before LASIK or cataract surgery, so it needs visit types of different lengths and a place for fundus photos, OCT and visual fields with the visit.

What wears Ophthalmology clinics down

Glaucoma patients who drop out

The drops continue but the pressure check every 3 or 4 months is forgotten, and the patient feels no damage.

Fundus exams for diabetics

A yearly exam that matters for every diabetic patient, and nobody reminds them.

Scattered measurements

Acuity, refraction and pressure for each eye on a sheet, and comparing with the last visit means searching.

How Clinicato handles it

Exam fields for each eye

Visual acuity, refraction, eye pressure, cup to disc ratio and fundus for right and left in the ophthalmology template, shown in the medical history in date order.

Follow-up reminders

Eye pressure for glaucoma patients, the yearly fundus exam for diabetics and cataract surgery follow-up, on WhatsApp on time.

Red-flag reminders

Eye pressure of 30 or more, sudden loss of vision and signs of retinal detachment show to the doctor during the visit.

Device images in the record

Upload OCT and fundus images and visual field reports to the visit, kept in the patient's record.

A day at a Ophthalmology clinic on Clinicato

  1. Booking by examination

Ready visit types, a refraction of 15 minutes, a pre-LASIK assessment of 40 and an emergency of 15, so each examination gets its real time.

  2. A template for each eye

Right and left fields for acuity, refraction, IOP, corneal thickness and C/D ratio, with ICD-10 diagnoses for common eye disease.

  3. Attachments

Fundus photos, OCT, visual fields and corneal topography are attached to the visit and stay in the record to compare visits.

  4. Recurring follow-up

Ready reminder rules for glaucoma follow-up, the diabetic yearly fundus check and children's refraction reach patients on WhatsApp with a booking link.

Alerts the doctor sees during the visit

  • Eye pressure of 30 mmHg or more
  • Visual acuity down two lines or more since the last visit
  • Flashes or a curtain in the visual field: suspected retinal detachment

Some alerts are worked out automatically from readings and the prescription, others remind you of the specialty's red flags, and the decision is always the doctor's.

Ready WhatsApp follow-up reminders

Examples of the follow-up rules in the Ophthalmology pack, which you edit or add to, sent to the patient with the doctor's name and a booking link and never the reason:

  • Eye pressure follow-up for glaucoma every 3 to 4 months
  • Yearly fundus exam for diabetic patients
  • Follow-up after cataract surgery

Health data is among the most sensitive there is, so Clinicato is built for everyone in your clinic to see only what their work needs.

Read the privacy policy
  • Reception never sees medical content

Reception books, issues receipts and collects, but never sees the diagnosis, prescription or the doctor's notes, and patient lists and exports carry no medical data.

  • A log of everyone who opened the record

Every look at or change to the medical record is logged with who did it and when, for the clinic manager to review any time.

  • Documented patient consent

The consent of the patient or their guardian to processing their data is recorded at registration, signed, verbal or electronic, and can be withdrawn, in line with Egypt's Personal Data Protection Law 151 of 2020.

  • A separate database for every clinic

Your clinic's data lives in its own database, private files open through short-lived links, and our support team enters your account only with your consent and never sees medical content.
