For doctors and health professionals

A tool to support the clinical decisions of doctors and health professionals, not for self-diagnosis or self-treatment.

This calculator is inside the patient's file in Clinicato: open it from "Medical tools" while you chart the visit, it fills in from the patient's details and vital signs where they are recorded, and adds its result to the visit's plan in one tap, with the "Medical tools" add-on. Medical note: The result supports a clinical decision, it does not replace the doctor's judgement or examining the patient, and is to be checked against your reference before any treatment decision.

How it works and when to use it

Cockcroft-Gault: (140 − age) × weight ÷ (72 × creatinine in mg/dL), × 0.85 for women, and the calculator takes creatinine in mg/dL or µmol/L.

With the height it also shows the result with ideal and adjusted weight, since actual weight overstates clearance in obesity, and many product labels still set their doses by this equation.

Frequently asked questions

How is it different from eGFR?

eGFR by CKD-EPI is used to diagnose and stage chronic kidney disease, Cockcroft-Gault is traditionally used for drug dosing because many labels name it.

Can it be used when kidney function changes quickly?

No, it assumes a stable creatinine, and in acute kidney injury the result is not accurate.
